Por fin he traducido el patrón de la manta "waffle" (pura vaguería, lo sé, pero le he dejado el nombre tal cual). Es un patrón gratis, así que viene sin técnicas específicas, pero es relativamente sencillo. Para hacer el remate en cordón, este tutorial está bastante claro (pero el texto está en inglés).

Here I am! It's been a bit of a difficult summer with the grand finale of spending a week in the hospital. But life is that way some times, I'm on the mend and I had finally written the Waffle Blanket Pattern before I got sick. So here it is!

I loved making this blanket and it really went quite fast with the chunky yarn. The honeycomb stitch makes for a squishy, light texture and is fun to work.

Remember my UFO Project? Well, it hasn't been completely forgotten. This is UFO#7, and as you can see there has been a little progress (little is the word here, but better than nothing, I say). One day these rectangles will be sewn together into a blanket and given to my brother and his wife as their (belated) wedding present.
I first heard about knitting log cabin in January One's blog all the way back in 2006, and while it took me years to attempt it, I never forgot her enthusiasm. Well, once I tried it I could see why! I find log cabin SO satisfying to knit, something about never cutting the yarn really appeals to me. That and the fact that I actually love picking up stitches. And let's not forget the geometrical perfection of the garter stitch ridge equalling one stitch. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I love it, and on top of that it makes the perfect portable project: takes up no space and you only need to carry one circular needle and the yarn. Period.
In general I like rectangles or even free-form log cabin knitting, like in that other blanket that I made for my other brother. I do wish I had pictures of the finished object because it is one very nice, huge, squishy blanket.
I ran out of the green colorway, so now it's just a matter of exhausting all my skeins of Colora and hoping I have enough for a decent size blanket... I think I have about 12 skeins in various colors.

¿Os acordáis de mis UFOs? Ya, yo casi tampoco. Pero el número 7 ha sido retomado y ya se puede decir que es un proyecto en curso. Orgullosas teníais que estar de mí. Algún día estós rectángulos se convertirán en el regalo de boda de mi hermano y su mujer (tardío, claro).
Yo había oído hablar del patrón "log cabin" en libros de patchwork, pero la primera vez que lo ví relacionado con el punto fué en un post en January One, allá en el 2006. Y cuando por fín lo probé años después, entendí su entusiasmo al escribirlo. Es una técnica sencilla y de lo más satisfactoria, no sé si es porque no tengo que cortar la lana hasta que termino el rectángulo (y por tanto no sólo no tengo hilos que rematar, sino que encima satisfago mi prurito ahorrador marujil); o que me encanta recoger puntos de los bordes rematados; o será esa cosa como perfecta de que un punto y una vuelta en punto de musgo sean del mismo tamaño y den como resultado un cuadrado. No sé, pero la cosa es que me encanta, y encima es comodísimo para llevarlo por ahí: no abulta nada y no hay que llevar ni tijeras.
En general me gusta más tejer rectángulos que cuadrados en log cabin, o incluso hacerlo en plan loco, como en la manta aquella gigantesca que le hice a mi otro hermano. Qué pena no tener fotos de esa manta terminada, quedó más gustosa...
Me he quedado sin lana verde, así que ahora toca meterle el diente al resto de mis ovillos de Colora y rezar para que haya suficiente para una manta decente (es un hilo discontinuado). Creo que tengo unos 12 en varios colores (aunque no he perdido la esperanza de encontrar más verdes, yo juraría que tenía dos o tres más...)

Algunas me habéis preguntado si el Teo se puede tejer en talla recién nacido, ¡y claro que se puede! He cambiado el patrón para que incluya las dos tallas anteriores más la de recién nacido. Eso sí, os advierto que es recién nacido de verdad, sale muy pequeñito.

Hi there! We have just put out a two-part video tutorial to guide you while you make your Teo hats. This earflap pixie hat is a very fast and easy project which makes it ideal for beginners, but it does include a couple of techniques that might be confusing if you are new to knitting. The videos have beginners in mind, and they carefully take you through each step, from casting on the first earflap to making the ties at the end.
In Part 1 you will knit the earflaps, cast-on for the body of the hat while you attach the earflaps and join to knit in the round.
In part 2 you will make decreases, knit the i-cord, make an invisible seam in garter stitch and finish your project.
So there you have it! I hope it is useful, and as usual, let me know if you have any questions.
